• 1834 – Death day of Joseph Marie Jacquard, French weaver and inventor, invented the Jacquard loom (Birth on 1752)


• 1925 – M. S. Swaminathan, Indian geneticist and academic

• 1927 – The Peace Bridge opens between Fort Erie, Ontario and Buffalo, New York.
