Famous Indian Film director Aurobindo Mukherjee passed away on 10 February 2016 in Kolkata, West Bengal. He was 97.


Mukherjee was the maker of cult Bengali classics like Agniswar, Mouchak and Nishi Padma in the early 1970s.


Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan on 9 February 2016 released the Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for north-east India.



The US space agency NASA on 2 February 2016 announced that the first flight of its new rocket, the Space Launch System (SLS), carrying 13 CubeSats and an uncrewed Orion Spacecraft will be launched in 2018.

These small satellites secondary payloads will carry science and technology investigations, which will help in paving the way for future human exploration in deep space, including the journey to Mars. These payloads were selected through a NASA challenge and negotiations with NASA’s international partners.



The South Asian Wrestling Federation on 8 February 2016 announced the appointment of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh as its President.



During the General Body Meeting of South Asian Wrestling Federation held on 5 February 2016, Singh was unanimously elected as the president. Tabiur Rehman from Bangladesh was also unanimously elected Secretary General.

The House unanimously authorised Singh to appoint one joint secretary from India, a treasurer from Afghanistan and one executive member from each South Asia Foundation (SAF) countries.
